Having trained in both architecture and contemporary dance, my work brings together the specificity of accurately rendering a scene and the vibrancy and looseness of movement in drawing. I turned to painting during the pandemic as a way to connect with local landscapes, often taking a stool with me on walks and painting from life. I use reference images from travel and photography books which have enabled me to mentally travel around the UK whilst being physically constrained to my shed during the pandemic restrictions. I value loose yet assured brush strokes, serendipitous interactions between media, and harmonious colour combinations.
+ I am in love with the great outdoors and feel a need to do all I can to help protect it. For that reason I strive to make my work as environmentally sustainable as possible, please see the page titled ‘sustainability’ for more information.
